Data sovereignty

Hosted in Europe.

Kunnus runs in Germany and France, exclusively with European providers. Your most sensitive data stays in the jurisdiction that protects it.

Software Hosted in Europe 2026

Awarded to Kunnus through the Bundesverband IT-Mittelstand e.V. (BITMi).

Why this matters to us

Kunnus manages some of the most sensitive data a company holds: product portfolios, software bills of materials, vulnerabilities and audit evidence. For us, where and how we host that data is part of the product, not an afterthought.

European providers only

The platform runs in German data centres operated by Hetzner. Backups and mail sit with OVH and Scaleway in France. All three are European companies, so no US hyperscaler owns the servers your data sits on and foreign law such as the US CLOUD Act cannot reach into it.

Data sovereignty

Your data stays under EU legal protection at all times. You keep full control over where it lives, who can access it and which law governs it. There are no third-country transfers and no hidden data flows.

Data minimisation

We follow the GDPR principle of data minimisation and only collect and store what is actually needed. The less data we hold, the less there is to protect, for you and for us.

Strong security by default

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest and stored in certified data centres. Access is restricted by strict least-privilege controls, so only the people who genuinely need access get it.

What the seals certify

“Software Hosted in Europe” is a quality label that Kunnus receives through the Bundesverband IT-Mittelstand e.V. (BITMi), the German IT SME association. BITMi is the German member of the European DIGITAL SME Alliance, which is behind the label. It confirms that our infrastructure and data hosting take place within Europe.

The label documents where and by whom our software is hosted. For us it is a public commitment to keeping your data in Europe.
